Great having you on board mate! Hey Dave,

I also use EverNote for sharing information across computers, which adds the ability to categorise and tag (great for GTD) and also allows text search within images. I have a nearly-new MacBook Pro, rather than an Air, as I didn't want the restrictions that the Air had over and above the portability. Finding equivalent Windows software is a great difficulty as, I, too, sometimes need to switch back. (I use parallels on the MBP and iMac which I find to be v good.) Notepad++ is about as good as it gets, unless you want to get real techie and head towards emacs and vi under cygwin. Depending on what you want to do with the editor, perhaps the (ever growing) Eclipse is more appropriate. We appear to have very similar tastes in Mac tools – DropBox, TweetDeck, Skitch. As regards your iMac, you may want to peek into some of the Wine-based stuff for running Office. I've heard good things about running Office under CrossOver Mac, which may be more lightweight than the full on virtual machine. I use a late 2007 MacBook Pro for everything, which is pretty good if beginning to occasionally show its age. However, I've been amazed at its resilience and the extra abilities that tools like Wine have given it. In particular, my current computer game of choice does not exist in a native Mac version, but a fan has created a specialised Wine wrapper than negates the need to use Boot Camp! (virtualisation just wasn't powerful enough). Interesting thoughts about the ’switch back’ to Windows. As regards your iMac, you may want to peek into some of the Wine-based stuff for running Office.
