It seems to me that compatibility with the existing technology configuration is always an issue. The whole point of new tools is that they disrupt the existing configuration, but figuring out the path from "here" to "there" is one of the main jobs of a technology steward. It hits the nail on the head - sometimes its too easy to be carried away with the potential; without considering the capacity that exists or is required.
