Much better to take a conciliatory approach! @Jon - thanks for bringing attention to those pages which are very useful. Editors can be pretty unhelpful if you seem to be ignoring that rule, especially if your edits seem to have even a small element of self-promotion or PR speak. On the other hand, introducing yourself on the talk page openly and asking what you can do about an error is likely to get a much better response.
