I’ll take your second point first, if I may. It might seem a little odd that while blog posts are presented in reverse-chronological order (ie with the latest first), comments are presented as a threaded conversation, with the latest at the bottom. However, this is the established practice across virtually all blogs that I’ve seen, and they do make the following of the conversation a little easier.
As for how to get your blog started, registering a domain name is a good thing to do. The easiest way to get going is to use a service such as WordPress.com. If you visit that site, you can register a blog for free, and get posting straight away. It really is very easy. You’ll also be able to use your domain name there, so it points to your new blog. If you’d like some more help, drop me a line via email – [email protected].
As for a book, if you are using WordPress then WordPress for Dummies is probably a good start! See http://bit.ly/wpfordummies

Please feel free to email me. Thanks for all your help and sharing of knowledge to help a neophyte.
