April 29th, 2008Video at Digital Inclusion

I’m chucking up some nice bits of video over on the DC10plus social reporting site. I especially like this one, featuring David Wilcox and some impairment-simulation gear:

David Wilcox has taken his new Nokia to the Social Innovation Camp this weekend and is putting up some great video - social reporting in action!

Incidentally, David tweeted earlier asking how Qik video can be embedded into a WordPress.com blog. I’ve quickly googled it but came up with a blank. Anyone have any ideas?

February 19th, 2008WetPaint wikis in plain english

WetPaint is a hosted wiki service that I haven’t really used before - I tend to stick with WikiSpaces, though have used pbwiki a fair bit recently for the barcampukgovweb.

By the looks of this great video from the Common Craft guys, though, WetPaint seems to be pretty feature packed. Might have to give it a go.

February 5th, 2008Video upload weirdness

I have been trying to upload the screencast I did for Pageflakes onto blip.tv and YouTube so it’s a bit easier for people to access. Trouble is, I’m not having much luck with it.

My screencasting package, BBFlashback, has produced a 60-odd mb WMV file (am back on the Windows machine for this job, folks) and everytime I try to upload it to a video sharing service, the resultant video doesn’t move - my dulcet tones work their way through producing a public Pageflake page, but the screen just shows the original image from the start of the clip. Then, when the audio stops, the video starts moving.

Is there something I am doing wrong here, chaps?

I didn’t get on very well with YouTube, but have managed to get the Pageflakes screencast on my blip.tv channel.
