Yes, I think it does fall into the category of 'doing something is better than doing nothing'. That said, like you, I prefer the WordPress approach to making events more accessible for those that aren't there.

The template I have used to cover events is based on a premium theme for which I bought a developer's licence. It probably isn't appropriate to make that downloadable from here. But v2 which is currently being written is all new code and will be available for others to use under an appropriate licence. More news when I have it!

How do you overcome the "go away visually-impaired people/mobile phones/whatever" of Ning and PageFlakes and so on? Or is that what you meant in the davebcs talk about not letting things stop you using social media tools? I'm not comfortable with locking people out like that - people don't have poor eyesight from choice.

I'm very impressed with the built on WordPress solutions that I've seen so far. It's probably slicker and may get more buzz around it than the more general tools like NoseRub. If/when I want to build one here, where can I download it?

Dave - brilliant offer! What's the best example of the template to show people? Then we could discuss and follow through after the workshop. Or do come, of course.

David - happy to set something up for OpenRSA with the current version of the template.

The new one will be better suited to regional groups, as it will allow them to track their own tags with ease.

Dave - thanks for that and, as always, moving things forward a step. Interesting point on Pageflakes. I've just pulled one together for RSA-OpenRSA <a href="http://is.gd/jC1d" rel="nofollow">here</a> and as you say it would be better if directly associated with a blog. Have to see if we can tempt you into doing something - we are <a href="http://openrsa.blogspot.com/2009/02/starting-discussion-on-future-rsa.html" rel="nofollow"> talking about </a>a Fellows connection kit that could be customised for different regions.
