For a consultation - especially a question and answer format - the video conversations of Seesmic look excellent

Plus there's no uploading - it's direct recording from your webcam to the Seesmic website

(you know this - I just spotted the 'add a video comment with Seesmic')

There are tools to download the video from youtube, but they don't make it easy.

Vimeo's failure to allow ordinary viewers to download should rule it out, in my opinion. What is the point of a video site which you can't view on a personal video recorder? It's like a teapot with no spout.

Blip seems OK. Clicking the RSS feed gives links to download mov-format files which play on a PVR.

I'm still watching new developments like TinyVid and Qik - there is still space in this market for a category killer.

revver always seems to give the best quality compression of the ones I've used - unfortunately it has a limit too (think its 100mb) and it takes FOREVER to get films approved.

Youtube = crap quality - I've spent ages fiddling with settings and never yet managed to get one at a decent quality. Same with google video - quality is rubbish, but at least theres no limit so often end up using that. I'm always a bit bothered with some of the services about whether they'll disappear and I'll end up having to reupload vids to another place.

I prefer Vimeo to YouTube, especially the ease of putting a password on a video - for that reason, and the improved quality of uploaded material, I use it to show videos internally for feedback/approval.

But I (Parliament) use YouTube for our official channel - for the eyeballs really. Although I do think YouTube has improved lately, with widescreen and the high-quality option.
